Registration, dates, format and conditions

Where and how can I take the test?

In 2026 the challenge runs from August 28 to September 28.

There are two ways to take it:

Online — on the official website, in your participant account. You need to fill in the participant form before you start. In person — at one of the host venues. The list of venues on the site grows as they register.

Can I take the challenge more than once?

No. Each person may take the challenge only once. Please enter your details carefully when you register.

How much time is given for the challenge?

Each question has 60 seconds. There are 20 questions in total, so the whole challenge takes no more than 25 minutes. We recommend taking it without breaks, to keep your concentration and avoid technical problems.

How do I apply to host the challenge?

To apply, please register as a host organiser on the Atomic Challenge website.

What happens after I apply?

Once you apply, we will send confirmation that your venue is approved, or ask follow-up questions by the email address you gave at registration.

After approval you get access to materials on preparing the venue, preparing for the challenge itself and inviting participants.

On the chosen day the venue runs the challenge using those materials, and afterwards uploads photos and video (where possible) to the organiser's account.

How does the challenge run at a venue?

After approval you get access to materials on preparing the venue, preparing for the challenge itself and inviting participants.

On the chosen day the venue runs the challenge using those materials, and afterwards uploads photos and video (where possible) to the organiser's account.

The challenge can be run as an open lesson based on the materials the organiser provides in the account, followed by the challenge itself — or as the challenge alone. The venue decides, according to its technical and other capabilities.

The challenge can be run offline, online or in a mixed format.

Offline: participants write on answer sheets printed by the venue in advance; the answers are then checked against the answer key and diplomas are issued showing the number of correct answers.

Online: participants register in their accounts and answer the questions in the interface, receiving an electronic diploma.

Mixed: some participants take the challenge offline (on answer sheets) while others take it online at the same time. This works when, for example, a computer room is available but there are more participants than devices.

When will the organiser materials be sent out?

Materials for organisers are expected to be ready by 15 August 2026.

Who can become a host venue?

Any commercial or non-commercial organisation in Russia or abroad can become a host venue for the Atomic Challenge, as long as it is ready to run the challenge for its own participants. The number of participants does not matter.

To host the challenge you need a room large enough for the participants you expect, a willingness to register on the site, to run the challenge according to the materials provided, and to submit a photo and video report.

A host venue can be: — a company, business or holding in any industry; — a community, movement or association; — an educational organisation; — a nuclear industry enterprise; — a municipal administration; — a cultural institution; — a library; — a youth centre; — a public organisation; — a Russian representative office abroad; — any other organisation.

To become a host venue of the Atomic Challenge 2026 you need to: — choose the location; — choose the date and time between August 28 and September 28, 2026; — appoint a contact person to work with the project team; — estimate the number of participants; — choose the format — digital, paper or mixed; — fill in the venue application with up-to-date details of the organisation and its contact person.

You do not need to know the exact number of participants when you apply — the form asks for an estimate.

Applications are only accepted through the venue account, which you can reach from the «For venues» section of the project site.

Once submitted, the application goes to the project organiser for review. You can follow its status in the venue account. Review takes no more than two days.

More about venues

How do I invite participants to my venue?

Use your venue's personal link from the venue account.

1. Publish your venue link on your website or social media, or send it in messages or emails. — Copy the personal link from the «Participants» section of the account. — Use the ready-made texts, images and banners from the «Inviting participants» section and add your venue link to them. You can adapt the materials for your own audience. — Post the link on your own channels: your website or intranet, social media, messengers or email.

2. Invite participants by email. — If you have a list of participant email addresses, you can send the link from the account. — In the «Participants» section enter the addresses separated by commas and press «Send invitations». — Participants receive an email with your venue's personal link. — An invitation can be withdrawn until the participant joins.

As people register, everyone who followed your link appears in your venue's list in the account. If a participant has already registered, following the link will offer them to join your venue as well.
